About TakeHelm
Helping practices keep patients healthy between visits.
TakeHelm turns a care team’s plan, the patient’s records and their own data into weekly support they can follow. Clinicians get the full picture and research-backed answers, and practices deliver more in every membership, without changing their EHR.

The gap
The practices doing the most ambitious work have been left out.
Concierge, functional and longevity practices are trying to keep people healthy, not just treat them when they’re sick. That work happens between visits: in what patients eat, how they train and sleep, and whether the plan survives a busy week.
The software these practices run on wasn’t built for that. The EHR and patient portal hold the record and the messages. Most new health AI is built for consumers on their own or for large health systems. Independent practices, the ones closest to proactive care, have been left to piece it together.
From the founder
Why I’m building TakeHelm.
I came to this as a patient. At 40, I needed back surgery for an injury that, I later learned, the right training could have helped prevent. The clues were already in my labs, my genetics and my wearable data. Nothing connected them to what I should do each week.
So I built the system I wished I’d had, and used it on myself. When I put it in front of others, I learned the most important lesson of the whole project: it works best when it starts from a care team’s plan. Clinicians bring the judgment and the trust. What they don’t have is a way to carry that plan into every patient’s week without adding to their team’s workload.
Before TakeHelm, I spent 20 years building and leading engineering teams. I started as a software engineer at Isilon and went on to lead engineering for storage systems trusted by Fortune 500 companies. I founded Uber’s Seattle engineering office, then led engineering at Convoy as the team grew from 12 engineers to nearly 200. Most recently, at Headway, I led engineering, product, design and data for a company that helps independent mental health clinicians grow their practices, building HIPAA-compliant systems that handled sensitive health data at scale as it grew into a multibillion-dollar business.
Those years taught me how to build software that is reliable, secure and genuinely useful, and how to keep making it better week after week. I’m now bringing all of it, full time, to a problem that hasn’t had that kind of attention.
My goal is simple: patients who understand their health and follow their plan, clinicians with the full picture and research-backed answers, and practices that deliver more in every membership.

What practices can count on
Built to earn a practice’s trust.
Your clinicians stay in charge.
TakeHelm explains, tracks and guides from your care team’s plan. Diagnosis and prescribing stay with your clinicians, and anything that needs their judgment goes to them.
Patient data, protected.
HIPAA, with a signed BAA. Patient identifiers are kept out of AI prompts, and nothing reaches your team without the patient’s approval.
